RESTXpress continues to get better and better. We’ve just released a new version with several great improvements. But, first, let me quickly explain what it is, in case you’re new to RESTXpress. Then, we’ll go through the new features.
RESTXpress is an enterprise gateway to create and deploy REST proxy services that represent already existing assets, allowing easy and secure access from mobile apps to these assets. (Setting up a proxy to work with an existing asset is a lot easier than redoing the asset as part of mobilizing your enterprise.) It’s a piece of software you download and install on your server inside an applications server. Already, RESTXpress supports SQL databases, SOAP web services, and existing REST services as “resources,” but this list will grow.
What goodies have we added for 3.0? Here’s the list:
- Flow Designer (for a New Resource Type)
- User Management
- Salesforce Support (for a New Resource Type)
Now, you can manage multiple users on a RESTXpress installation. We wanted to set up a multi-user system that would satisfy user management need without unnecessary complexity, and we did. Users can be created with three possible roles: ADMIN, USER, and VIEWER.
Now, you can create resources based on your Salesforce account via the Salesforce REST API. We’ve also included special support for Salesforce OAuth to make it easier to set up these resources.
