JavaFX Plug-in Keeps Pace with JavaFX

If you’ve been checking our open source site, exadel.org, you will have noticed that we recently updated Exadel JavaFX Plug-in for Eclipse to a new version, 1.3. With this release, there is now Eclipse support for the latest (April 2010) release of JavaFX, coincidentally enough, also version 1.3.

Once you’ve used the built-in Eclipse plug-in update facility to update or you’ve downloaded and installed the plug-in, it’s pretty straightforward to start tapping into JavaFX 1.3. After updating or installing the plug-in (and downloading the JavaFX 1.3 SDK, of course), select Window/Preferences/JavaFX/Installed JavaFX Runtimes from the menu bar and check the 1.3 version for JavaFX. (However, you can still use JavaFX 1.2.x with the new plug-in, if you have it and want to use it.) In this release of the plug-in, you have to complete things by restarting Eclipse, but in the next release of the plug-in you won’t have to.

TheServerSide Java Conference Coming Up Next Week

TheServerSide is hosting another Java Symposium this year. It will run from March 17 to March 19 in Las Vegas. Of course, you knew this already from regularly checking our calendar. (Our calendar would also show that Exadel’s Max Katz will be doing 2 sessions.)

As the TheServerSide points out, it’s during difficult turbulent times that these sorts of information-sharing events become so important for developers–at the same time resources to attend events is much tighter. We can help a little by offering our discount code. To redeem this special offer, register online with the code FRIENDOFSPKR and you’ll automatically save $200. (Yes, you can still register.) Read more »

Exadel JavaFX Plug-In for Eclipse: Version 1.2.1 Out

There are several changes going on for Exadel JavaFX Studio. We’ve switched the name to:

Exadel JavaFX Plug-In for Eclipse

We’re still working on a new internal platform with full easy-to-use services for open source management to host our open source projects. The JavaFX Plug-In will be the first to go up on the new open source site, but in the meantime we are still developing it internally.

Today, we are releasing a version for download that adds support for hypertext navigation from the JavaFX source code editor to the Java class editor for classes referenced in the file. Hold on to the control key and class references become clickable links. There are also some bug fixes listed in the online release notes.
