Not only does HTML5 include many new tags, its adoption also involves greater attention to the DOM and API making JavaScript even more powerful. But, one area where the potent combination of HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS has really shined has been in the area of mobile Web apps. Read more »

Working with iOS and SOAP

Bookmark and Share

At Exadel we have a lot of experience with mobile development. One thing that comes up in our work in this area is the occasional necessity to communicate with services using SOAP. To do this, we need to generate Objective-C source code from a WSDL document. In this article, I’ll describe some utilities for this and then how to resolve some issues that come up in using these code generators. Read more »

Webinar: Mobile Development Choices: Native vs. Web
Thu, Nov 4, 2010 11:00 AM — 12:00 PM PDT

We’ve had a lot of experience at Exadel helping companies decide how to approach development for mobile. There are two basic approaches involved. In one, you develop an app for each type of mobile device you want to target. In another, you rely on the Web browser in the mobile device and set up your application on your server to work with the generic browser. As you can imagine, there are good and bad things about either approach.

The purpose of this webinar is to get down further into the details of how you would make a decision like this. And, there’s still time to register for this webinar.

This entry is part 7 of 8 in the series Thoughts on M-Comm

This is a list of my personal predictions for mobile commerce based solely on my research on the Internet, consumer experience, and my gut feeling.

  1. In 10 years, mobile will overcome PC advertising.
  2. Android will be the most important platform.
  3. Payments using mobile will be common in the US.
  4. Mobile will be the new playground for hackers.
  5. Smartphones will cost less than US$60.
  6. Tablets will not take off. Read more »
