We’ve been to a lot of AT&T hackathons and have been very im­pressed with these events. Now, AT&T is putting on a new event here in the San Francisco Bay Area called DevLab, a one-​​day hands-​​on pro­gram­ming work­shop to im­merse par­tic­i­pants in the latest ser­vices and tools for mo­bile app de­vel­op­ment. OK. Exadel’s VP for Product Management, David Schoenbach, prob­ably didn’t use a magic 8 ball to figure out the im­pact of the Amazon Phone. Even without any magic aids, David does make quite a cred­ible ef­fort, though, to di­vine the mo­bile fu­ture in a Venture Beat guest post that came out today. It starts out like this:

Tiggzi, our cloud-​​based plat­form for building mo­bile apps, has al­ways been based on a prac­tical just-​​do-​​it kind of ap­proach. We were de­lighted to see a new book out with this kind of phi­los­ophy, too. The Bootstrapper’s Guide to the Mobile Web by Deltina Hay is a great hands-​​on guide that tar­gets in­di­vidual en­tre­pre­neurs and small busi­nesses who want to get into mo­bile quickly. The book neatly di­vides up this task into mo­bile web de­vel­op­ment, mo­bile app de­vel­op­ment, and mo­bile pro­mo­tion tac­tics. It’s a clearly written book full of spe­cific ex­am­ples that covers a lot of ground ef­fi­ciently and quickly. Read more »

A lot of the height at­tained by Tiggr Mobile Apps Builder as a mo­bile de­vel­op­ment plat­form comes from “standing on the shoul­ders of Giants.” One of those Giants is PhoneGap.
